Cedar Exodus

Climate Change Is Killing the Cedars of Lebanon/The New York Times

This project, Cedar Exodus, documents the migration of trees as asylum-seekers searching for new territories. Over the centuries, due to climate change, the number of cedar trees has drastically decreased. The trees have migrated to higher altitudes in order to pursue cooler temperatures in elevated territories. However, this migration is not easily perceptible to humans. Capturing this act of displacement through videos is challenging, so our project seeks to illustrate the crisis through time and space in a short one-minute simulation produced with Unreal Engine.
